The Simca 5, French version of the Fiat Topolino, was never intended for military use but considerable numbers were requisitioned in 1939. Tank Corps officers particularly appreciated their compact dimensions which helped them to insinuate themselves into small spaces, while the folding top allowed the officers to stand up and supervise the operations of their armoured vehicles. They were also appreciated by the German Army, witness this one captured by the British at Bayeux on June B 1944.
